30 Day Book Challenge Day 12:

A Book You Wanted to Read for a Long Time But Still Haven’t

The Enlightenment The Rise of Modern Paganism by Peter Gay book coverWow. There are so many, many books I could use for today’s challenge. At the time of printing, I have 2,667 books on my wishlist, and over half of those have been there for more than a year – some of them up to five or six years. Which one to choose?

Should I appear to be well-read by choosing a classic like Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë? Should I choose a book that reflects one of my many interests, such as 13 Things That Don’t Make Sense: The Most Baffling Scientific Mysteries of Our Time by Michael Brooks or Deadly Companions: How Microbes Shaped Our History by Dorothy H. Crawford?

Should I show motherly side by choosing a book I want to read in order to understand my children better, like Girl Stuff – A Full-On Guide To The Teen Years by Kaz Cooke? Should I show my spiritual side with something along the lines of The Enlightenment: The Rise of Modern Paganism by Peter Gay? Or should I appeal to the masses with an easy fiction like Z For Zacharia by Robert C. O’Brien?

I really cannot decide on a single book to write about.

Instead, I will list the books that I have attempted unsuccessfully to borrow from my local library. I do not know if I have a poor library, or odd taste in books, but a disproportionate number of my requests are not held at the library. I have managed to obtain a few through BookMooch, and a few more from BookCrossing and OzVBB. The rest are all books that I want to read enough that I am saving to buy them.

These books are in order from the newest at the top to the oldest at the bottom. Coincidently, Elves in Anglo-Saxon England also happens to be the most expensive on the list.

I seriously doubt I will be able to read every book on my wishlist before I die, particularly in light of the fact that it is growing at a rate faster than I can read. However, I guarantee that I am going to die trying!
