Normally when I catch up with a work-in-progress (WIP), I just wait to read the updates until I feel like reading the story again, or until the story is complete. However, there are three stories for which I am anxiously awaiting the next update. I recognise that the authors have a life outside of fan-fiction. 30 Day Fanfic Challenge – Day 5

Story you like better than the source material

Ok. As a massive fan of Harry Potter, it comes as no surprise that I think J.K. Rowling is a brilliant storyteller. However, even I can admit that her writing does have room for improvement. I have, therefore, read several stories that were technically better-written than the original books.

I won’t be using that as my goal-post, though, because a book, or story, can be technically well-written while still being about as entertaining as watching grass grow on YouTube. Just as stories, or books, can be technically poorly written, while still providing a highly entertaining read. Continue reading
